Driven By Data.

Insights.

Curiosity.

This is the personal website of Mai Tanaka, PhD, a data-oriented researcher specializing in brain signal analysis.

Here you’ll find my projects and blog posts that reflect my wide range of interests: from modeling my running performance while training for a marathon, to my insights from reading scientific papers.

Currently, I am working on data science projects and exploring applications in health, fitness, and medicine. As a grad student analyzing audio and brain signals, MATLAB was my main tool for analysis. As such, I’ve acquired the majority of my Python knowledge by working on the projects and articles on this site. If you are also new to Python, you may find the tutorials in my blog useful.

Here are some of the things I can now do:

  • Python-based analysis of neural and physiological time-series data (EEG, MEG)
  • Designing reproducible data workflows and evaluating models on noisy data
  • Signal processing and statistical modeling for complex, real-world datasets
